  • I was flipping through my planner today and was reminded of some of
the more unusual things that I've done this year. I know that this is
all quite tame compared to Sam's wild flings in Dallas .. but hey ... the year is still young.

Crazier things I've done this year

    1. attended a casting call for extras in an opera production
    2. started rock climbing weekly
    3. watched a friend go through lasik surgery
    4. attended a martial arts exhibition
    5. filed taxes at the last moment
    6. watched passion of the christ three times (not voluntarily)
    7. purchased a Lego Mindstorm Set
    8. saw william hung in concert .. Live!
    9. took a 5.5 hr detour to drive from corvallis to seattle during a business trip
    10. flew home just to hear my sister in a concert
    11. attended a sunrise easter service at sea world
    12. shared my testimony 5 times (3 to non-christians)
    13. discovered dim sum in Rancho Bernardo =p
    14. watched all 20 episodes of Hotelier with my roommate in Cantonese
    15. jogged a net total of 9.5 miles during the 2 times I've gone running.

One of my friends at church asked me, "what would it look like to
live with no regrets?" ... All this was traveling into the ears of a
guy who bought his first CD w/o listening to all the songs on it first
    only 2 yrs ago.

  • you saw william hung in concert? me too! were you at North County Fair at the end of march? or did you go all the way to Cal to see him

  • what a fun life!

  • i want to encourage this kind of wild/tame living!  such fun.  also weird to be the one to be compared to for adventures.

i think your list sounds terribly impressive!!  my life is like the "exciting supermarket shopping adventures" type of wildness.. like, it's not wild at all, AT ALL, but just sounds so because of exaggeration & just feeling like it is so.  fun fun fun.

  • amen amen amen! live life with NO REGRETS! sam, life is fun isn't it...rock on.

  • Mary Poppins said, "In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. A joy in every task you undertake ..."

I was thinking how for one person, life in San Diego can be the greatest monotony -- sun almost every day, wake up, go to work, eat, watch TV, sleep, wake up ... outside of college, the periodicity of life can almost be numbing at times, dulling our desires. And for another ... life  ... is just one great adventure !!! they arise daily and wait in anticipation of what God may teach them or bring their way. They share endless stories of amazing encounters with people and awesome accounts of God's handiwork. Somehow they see treasures in what seems ordinary and plain to most. And yes, even a trip to the supermarket can REALLY be an exciting adventure. Sam is kinda like that ...  even a trip to the beach is no ordinary trip.

Amelia heard that "boring people are bored". I would certainly find no boredom if I found a way to slip into those magical cartoon worlds that Mary Poppins entered. =p

  • i love having friends like you, who seize the day and aren't afraid to make the here & now their home :)

  • Dim Sum in RB? Where?! Where?! But yeah...horray for living life a bit on the dangerous side with no regrets

  • j9, yes .. I was at North county. hordes of wild women created this impenetrable wall. In a recent singaporean political speech,  the country's leader made a passing comment about how "youth in our country have no idea who any of us are (the political leaders), but they all know william hung". He is big in singapore. I hear from a singaporean colleague that he's traveling there soon.

Stephen, the dim sum place is called pearl. I discovered it while walking around Web lake (thanks janine). it's actually connected with emerald. dim sum is reasonable, but food is super pricey. I'm excited about the dim sum, but sad that it's popularity will take away one of my "secret" spots to pray/reflect during my workday.

  • hey hey....have you heard this new guy daves son?  i saw him perform
    the
other week and he's amazing, i guess he's the new thing check him out.
    "boy
on a mission is my favorite"  http://www.davesson.com wow. definitely worth a
    listen...

  • Found you. Nice site Dave. Long time to talk.
